Abu Simbel - We left the ship at 4:00 AM to catch the flight from Aswan to this temple overlooking lake Nassar.
Abu Simbel
Amber - our cruise ship with 11 passengers and an indulgent crew. Here moored near Aswan.
Karnak - A high point of the trip. An immiment visit by President Mubarak had closed the vendor stalls and thinned the visiters so we had a an unusually uncrowded site.
Luxor Temple - a nighttime visit with a full moon.
View from our Mena House Oberoi hotel room in Cairo. Unfortunately, the air was hazy.
Sphinx & Pyramids - these monuments are perhaps best observed from a distance.
Along the Nile - a very picturesque river. Lush on the east side, desert on the west.
Along the Nile - we moored next to this farmer's field and were entertained by his camel.
Philae Temple - it's island setting was beautiful.
Hatshepsut Temple - very hot the day we visited, but worth climbing all the steps.
Saqqara - a huge site a few miles outside Cairo.
Valley of the Kings - lots of walking here. We only had time to visit three tombs.
